Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions? We have answers. Here are some of the most frequent questions we get asked. Please do get in touch if your query isn't answered below. We're always happy to share our expertise or offer advice.
Prices vary depending on number of colours in your design (single-colour being the most cost effective), type of products chosen and quantities required. We have a guide price list that we can provide you with. We can provide an exact quote once we've seen your artwork.
We generally supply mugs at intervals of 48. Our minimum print run is 96; you can order fewer mugs but we will need to charge extra for the decals. If you later wish to reorder, you would be charged for the mugs minus the printing cost. For designs with many colours, we recommend ordering 384 mugs as it keeps the price per mug at a reasonable cost.
We try to deliver as closely as possible to the exact number of units ordered as possible, but we may supply 5% over or under that number. The reason for overruns and underruns is: once your design is approved, we print a bit more than you order to account for any products that don't meet quality standard (known as "seconds"). If there are more seconds than we expect, you'll receive fewer products than you ordered; if there aren't many, you'll receive somewhat more. You will only be charged for the exact number you receive.
We supply templates for you to work from or we can help with artwork. If no design work is needed, there will be no design charge. If a few tweaks are needed, we will do this free of charge. Any additional design work is charged at an hourly rate of £25. If a lot of design work is required, we can put you in touch with our freelance designer. Any design costs will be discussed upfront.
We can but set up costs are steep, so this generally only works with print runs of at least 300. A photograph rendered into a drawing is a popular and affordable alternative.
We never proceed with an order until you have approved a mock-up of the design. As part of the process, you will be sent a PDF approval form with high resolution images of the design mocked up on your chosen product. This gives you a chance to correct spelling, layout, sizing and general appearance of the design.
We can supply printed samples for an additional charge.
We can print from single-colour to full-colour designs on all our products. There are certain bright fluorescent colours produced easily on paper which aren't possible on ceramics. Otherwise, we can reproduce most colours for you, including metallics such as gold or silver. It's sometimes difficult to match pantones, but we'll get as close as possible.
Our mugs come with our backstamp as standard, but we can apply a bespoke backstamp for an additional charge.
Like other ceramic products, our mugs are dishwasher resistant. We advise you not to put cherished mugs with large amounts of colour through the dishwasher too often.
Our products are meant for frequent use. With reasonable care, they should last for many years. Many of our mugs made over 40 years ago are still in daily use today.
We pride ourselves on our speedy turnaround, so we'll work with you to despatch your order as quickly as possible while still maintaining quality. Once your mock-up has been approved, we'll start the screen-printing process. This takes longer for multi-colour designs. The whole process usually takes six weeks for approval. Do tell us if you have a deadline and we'll let you know if we can meet it.
We have a range of options, from plain postable boxes to printed packaging.
