This 300ml bone china mug was created for Trebah Garden, a sub-tropical garden in Cornwall. With plenty of tropical planting, an outdoor theatre, a private beach, and family-friendly activities, visitors to Trebah can enjoy both adventure and tranquility year-round.
To offer a meaningful keepsake in their gift shop, Cornwall-based illustrator Jade Alway was commissioned to design a mug that captures the garden’s beauty. Visiting the garden throughout her time at university, Jade had built up a collection of sketches, forming a ‘visual diary’. She used these to piece together her illustration, depicting a journey through the garden:
“I had built a connection with Trebah Garden, often wandering the paths to my favourite spot on Petry’s path where I would take a moment to draw the cascading view in my sketchbook whilst often greeted by a robin or two.”
With illustration finalised, we converted the artwork into digital print-ready files, vectorising artwork and separating colours where needed. Using our in-house inks, the design was screen-printed in four vibrant spot colours. As a final touch, the Trebah Garden logo was added on the inside rim—a perfect memento for visitors to remember the garden long after they go home.
